Jacquet Bazemore, Referee

Today we have Big John McCarthy, but in 1979 we had Big Jacquet Bazemore. Jacquet was a Pioneer of mixed martial arts and the first MMA referee in America. Bazemore was ranked as World Heavyweight kickboxing champion of the world.  He was hired as the referee for CV Productions in 1979 and worked MMA fights throughout 1980 in Pittsburgh, Johnstown, New Kensington, Philadelphia, and Greensburg Pennsylvania.
